Southlands Middle School Student Life

Southlands Christian Middle School offers students a safe and engaging environment to be the unique individual God has designed them to be. Individuality can easily be expressed during our many spirit weeks, while school pride can be shown each Friday when students participate in a School Spirit Day. Associated Student Body (ASB) offers students an opportunity to demonstrate servant leadership while learning basic governmental procedures. Field trips give students a way to extend their learning beyond the classroom and experience sites, concepts, and ideas they won’t readily be able to access from a textbook.

Field Trips

Spiritual Explosion

Students spend 3 days at the beautiful Palomar Christian conference center, where they enjoy time with friends and discover God’s plan for the school year. Activities include paintball, horseback riding, sports, high ropes course, NRA certified shooting range, and so much more!

Ironwood Christian Camp

A week-long camp located near Joshua Tree National Park, Ironwood Christian Camp offers leadership training intended for 7th graders and exploration camp for 6th graders. Activities include zip lines, swimming, numerous camp games, hatchet throwing, rifle shooting, horseback riding, and chapel.

Washington, D.C.

During the same week as Ironwood, 8th graders visit our nation’s capital and tour some of the most historic landmarks in U.S. history. Places visited in the past include the Jefferson Memorial, Lincoln Memorial, The White House, Arlington Cemetery, National Cathedral, and Smithsonian Museums.

iFLY

8th-grade students spend a day skydiving indoors at iFLY Ontario. This S.T.E.M. certified field trip offers real-world math, guided tutorials about velocity and drag, but most importantly a hands-on demonstration of how those things work together when skydiving.

Medieval Times

Experience the medieval era as never before! Our middle school students enjoy a day of feasting and jousting to bring medieval history to life!

Leadership

ASB

Middle School’s ASB (Associated Study Body) is comprised of a core group of servant leaders chosen for their standard of ethics, academic leadership, and relationship with Jesus and their communities. This group collaborates with the staff and administration in various leadership capacities.

NJHS

The National Junior Honor Society’s goal is to serve the community. The Southlands chapter is made up of student scholars and leaders and through various fundraising efforts, these students serve the needs of the school community, our local community.
