This month’s MOS feature is not only known for having a genuine heart but also a passion for the arts. We would like to present Ms. Donna Jaramillo.

Meet Our Staff: Ms. Donna Jaramillo

Ms. Donna Jaramillo became part of the Southlands family in 2008. Her serving heart allowed her to serve as an elementary pullout teacher, middle school coach for both basketball and volleyball, high school support ELL teacher, high school art teacher, and Department head for the art department. We are a Christian school, but seeing God move in and around campus never ceases to amaze our staff. Ms. Jaramillo can always recall seeing God move through the testimonials of the students at our Spiritual Explosions and water baptisms.

It’s not surprising that these are her favorite things about SCS, because Ms. Donna herself is someone that exerts all these things she listed to. Her students love her for her patience, her love for students, and her passion for what she does.

The two things she is looking forward to this year will have to be seeing her students in person again and collaborating with her amazing colleagues. One of the funniest memories she can remember is when the teachers performed the Gangnam style dance during the talent show. It truly was a sight to see when all of our teachers gathered together to perform this hilarious dance. At Southlands, you will hear us say, “Stay Southlands Strong”. For Ms. Jaramillo, this statement means that the vision and purpose are much bigger than the individual. The scripture she loves to use when describing our statement is Ephesians 4:16-18 (TPT): 16  For his “body” has been formed in his image and is closely joined together and constantly connected as one. And every member has been given divine gifts to

contribute to the growth of all, and as these gifts operate effectively throughout the whole body, we are built up and made perfect in love.
