MOS: Meet Our Staff Mondays (Mrs. Harvey)
Words by: Ashley Kim
This Monday, we would like you to meet Mrs. Rachel Harvey, who teaches middle school science and history.
Mrs. Harvey studied history in college because she believes “it is important to understand our past so that we do not repeat our mistakes.”
This is Mrs. Harvey’s fourth year teaching at Southlands Christian Schools. When asked for one adjective to describe Southlands, Mrs. Harvey said, “Superior.” When asked for one adjective to describe her students, she said, “Outstanding!”
Mrs. Harvey thinks her students are outstanding, but she is an outstanding teacher. In fact, she received the middle school Teacher of the Month award for October this school year.
Although Mrs. Harvey enjoys teaching science and history, did you know she has a special fascination and love for animals? In fact, she has held a lion cub, swam with dolphins, and have fed giraffes before!
Another fun fact is that Mrs. Harvey does not like chocolate or coffee (Take note, middle school students!).
Her favorite promise of God comes from Exodus 14:14 which says, “The LORD will fight for you; you need only to be still.”
