Southlands Spotlight: Homecoming

Table of Content

Everyone has heard of Homecoming in a high school setting, but we think we have a one of a kind homecoming game and dance. This month’s Southlands Spotlight is on our Southlands Homecoming!

Our Homecoming Game is a time where all of our school comes together.  We have our elementary and middle schoolers there, along with high school alumni. Former football players get to be on the sidelines with their former coaches, former cheerleaders get to cheer with their sisters, and parents get to see their eagles play!

This year, we had our very own high school senior, Valerie Garcia singing the National Anthem. Both Mr. and Mrs. Garcia were there to support their daughter as she started off the night on a high note.

We also had our drumline on the sidelines ready to hype up the crowd with their creative beats, and some raving fans to keep the spirit up. A highlight of the night was when we crowned our 2019 Homecoming Queen. Our court consisted of Valeria Garcia, Candy Zha, Violet Zhang, and Tina Zhang. After much anticipation, Tina was crowned as queen for this year, and she celebrated with a lap around the field in her chariot.

Our Homecoming Game was a fun-filled event, which was topped off the next evening with our high school Homecoming Dance. The students got to dance the night away at the Yorba Linda Community Center

We had a live DJ and we also crowned our 2019 Homecoming King, Leo Wu. The students spent the rest of the night dancing and hanging out with their fellow eagles. This month was filled with events, but most importantly filled with memories that will last a lifetime.

Make sure to have a blessed day and stay SOUTHLANDS STRONG!
