Experiencing The Harvest Crusade: A Reflection From Mr. Lee

Table of Content

This year, the Southlands blog will periodically feature voices from across campus. Students, faculty, and staff will share their thoughts and have a chance to share their heart with the rest of the Southlands family in this space.

This week, Campus Pastor Steve Lee shares his perspective from a weekend trip to the Harvest Crusade with 45 of our students and about 10 of our staff and teachers. The Harvest Crusades have taken place here in Southern California for the past 29 years at Angel Stadium of Anaheim.

This weekend, our students attended and enjoyed music from Lacey Sturm and Lecrae, worshipped with Phil Wickham, and heard the Gospel presented anew from Pastor Greg Laurie. Here are some reflections from Mr. Lee.

I am always thrilled to witness God going beyond my expectations; it’s in those moments that I realize just how small my faith is. He did it again this past Saturday. We attended the Harvest Crusade in Anaheim this weekend with about 45 of our students, and I found that I was asking myself this simple question: who moved their hearts and who actually brought them to the Harvest Crusade?

It was God’s work! And seeing 45,000 people come together just to worship and hear from God, shouting out and raising their hands to lift up His name, I was struck by the majestic manifestation of God’s glory.  At one point, I looked up and asked God, “Do you see this, God? Do you see all these people shouting out Your name? We are all here just for you. Do you see these young students trying to live for You?”  I felt like I saw a big smile on His face and I literally felt His joy.  This is it! This is why we do what we do!

God is raising up the next generation for His kingdom. I have undeniable confidence that God will use our school to expand His Kingdom and to make disciples of all nations, ultimately for His name to be glorified.  He has started His good work this year and He will surely complete it.  He will do only the things that He can do, just like He did last Saturday.  All praise to Him alone! This has been a great start to what promises to be a good year.
